"We do not remember days; we remember moments."
- Cesare Pavese, The Burning Brand
Many wonderful memories are associated with holidays, especially Christmas. Part of the joy of having children and grandchildren is sharing memories and traditions like watching the Christmas specials together, sharing Christmas Radio Shows, a special Christmas meal, or special songs. One old-time radio show people have fond Christmas memories about is Paddy O'Cinnamon, The Cinnamon Bear.
The show is about a pair of twins searching for their silver Christmas star with the help of the four-inch Paddy O'Cinnamon. Originally, the show aired in 1937 and was written by veteran radio writer and producer Glanville Heisch with the help of his wife, Elizabeth.
When the show first aired in 1937, it was broadcast mostly in the Northwest and the Chicago area (it still airs in some areas of the Northwest today). There are 26 15-minute episodes that aired Monday through Saturday leading up to Christmas with the last episode airing on December 23.
Old Time Radio has the full 26 episodes of Paddy O'Cinnamon and many more Christmas shows from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Listen to some samples and build new memories and traditions with your children and families.
